Feast and float: The Wine and Dine Naturalist Float Trip
Love the outdoors, but hate the hassle of hiking? Reserve a spot for the next Wine and Dine Naturalist Float Trip on the Androscoggin River.
Sandy MacGregor, owner and operator of the Mountain Ranger Guide Service in Rumford, Maine, offers the tour, which features intimate views of wildlife and a gourmet dinner. You supply your favorite beverage, and MacGregor provides you with a private narrated float tour on a 17-foot, hand-crafted drift boat, complete with swivel bucket seats and a dinner of grilled Montreal chicken, roasted herbed vegetables and dessert. Your meal is served riverside on a linen-draped table.
“These trips are very popular with couples. Nearly a third of my business comes from the float trips,” said MacGregor. “This is also a great way for older folks to get out and enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife without having to worry about accessibility.”
Don’t forget the corkscrew – and the camera!
Float trips are $200 per couple and typically run from July through October. For more information, call 207-364-2506 or visit mountainranger.com. — CK
