Exeter breakfast to look at family-friendly business culture

‘Winning Workplaces’ to review how companies can find solutions for employees

“Winning Workplaces: Competitive Strategies for Your Business to Create a Family-Friendly Culture” will be the focus of a breakfast discussion that will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, at the Exeter inn in Exeter.

The event, sponsored by the Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce and the NH Women’s Foundation, will feature Dawn Barker, vice president of human resources of RiverWoods, who will talk about why the decisions, policies and schedules at the retirement community are made with the understanding that employees have full lives outside of their work.

Following that will be a panel discussion looking at how businesses find creative solutions for their employees. The panel will include Dan Chartrand of Water Street Bookstore, Pubali Chakravorty-Campbell of Human Resources Partners, and Jeff Feingold of NH Business Review.

"A family-friendly workplace culture sets apart businesses as highly desirable places to work,” said Tanna Clews, CEO of the NH Women’s Foundation. “There's no doubt that businesses see an improved bottom line when they are able to attract and retain top talent."

Added Todd Deluca, president of the Exeter chamber, “Family-friendly workplaces are possible in all size organizations, including the smaller businesses that make up many chamber and business association memberships.“

The event is open to the public. For more information and to register, visit exeterarea.org or call 603-772-2411.
