Dyn Inc. acquires SendLabs
Manchester-based Dynamic Network Services has acquired e-mail delivery provider SendLabs, also of Manchester.
According to Dyn Inc., a global provider of Web hosting services, strong customer demand for outbound e-mail delivery solutions prompted the acquisition.
"Deliverability is a major issue, especially for our e-commerce and Web 2.0 clients whose apps have automated bulk and transactional e-mail functionality," said Kyle York, sales vice president at the firm.
Although Dyn Inc. officially announced the deal on Jan. 11, a blog entry by SendLabs managing director Brett Houle dated Dec. 31 discussed the move.
At the time, he wrote that the deal "will absolutely strengthen the SendLabs brand and technology on a global level and translate into even greater innovations for you, our customers, in the coming year." Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Dyn Inc. recently captured media interest as the former hosting provider of the controversial website WikiLeaks, which in late November released hundreds of classified cables from U.S. diplomatic officials.
Dyn Inc. ceased hosting WikiLeaks on Dec. 2 following "denial of service attacks," which had the potential to halt performance for its 500,000 other clients. – CINDY KIBBE/NEW HAMPSHIR BUSINESS REVIEW
