Drink to health

You can spend an evening with the American Lung Association of New Hampshire, sample fine wines from around the world and help the organization’s health programs all at the same time.

The ALANH’s second annual Wine & Cheese Extravaganza will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the 100 Club in Portsmouth.

The ALANH is hoping to raise $60,000 at this year’s event.

Chris Dugan, director of public relations and communications, said the event “is a crucial fund-raiser” for the organization, proceeds from which benefit “key lung health programs, such as tobacco prevention and cessation, outreach and support for those with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma education.”

Fine wines from around the world, such as Champagne, Bordeaux, Cabernet, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, will be paired with tastings of artisanal cheeses. The event also will feature live and silent auctions.
