‘Disruptive’ conference set for April 11

Organizers of an April 11 conference are hoping to bring together innovators, entrepreneurs, inventors, technologists, angel investors, venture capitalists and other “change-makers” to share their ideas on “disruptive innovation.”Disruptivate! 2012 is set for April 11 at the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel and Spa in New Castle.According to Mark Galvin, managing director of the Innovation Commercialization Center in Portsmouth and an organizer of the event, “Disruptive innovation is technological and business advancement that moves a market and often displaces an incumbent.”Disruptivate! speakers will include Les Otten of Maine, founder of American Skiing Company, and Rouzbeh Yassini, one of the earliest developers of cable modems.Other conference speakers will include University of New Hampshire President Mark Huddleston; Joshua Cyr, owner of Alpha Loft and founder of Initiative LLC in Portsmouth; programmable controller innovator Dick Morley; and former New Hampshire Entrepreneur of the Year Matt Pierson, who’s now an angel investor.There will be three keynote sessions — including one highlighting “Five Disruptivators to Watch” — and four workshops on “Executing Disruptive Innovation.”The conference is organized by the N.H. Innovation Commercialization Center in partnership with UNH, New Hampshire High Technology Council, and the abi Innovation Hub of Manchester.
