Berlin prison EIS awaited
The federal Bureau of Prisons plans to release its draft environmental impact statement for a proposed prison in Berlin by the end of the month.
That’s what Berlin City Planner Pamela Laflamme told the Androscoggin Valley Economic Recovery Corp. last week, according to the Berlin Daily Sun.
“The Bureau of Prisons is still committed to releasing the draft EIS this month,” she was quoted as saying.
After the statement is released, the bureau plans to hold a public hearing in early December on the proposed prison as part of a 45-day public comment period. – NHBR STAFF
