LYNDEBOROUGH – A workshop on barn documentation and tagging, using an 1852 timber-framed barn as an example, will be held June 19, starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Roeper farm.
The 20- by 80-foot barn at the center of this project contains both original hand-hewn timbers and salvaged timbers from an earlier frame. It will be documented and disassembled in July, so a full restoration can be done in the coming years.
The workshop, second in a series, will focus on documentation of the existing frame and the steps needed to tag the frame with semi-permanent marking so that each piece can be identified after the frame is taken apart.
This will be the final workshop before the barn is disassembled July 16-18.
Refreshments will be provided. A donation is optional and will be split with the instructor and local historical societies.
The workshop leader will be Arron Sturgis of Preservation Timber Framing from Eliot, Maine.
Advance registration is required. For further information or to register, send e-mail to barnproject@cwrmarketing.com or call Andy Roeper at 654-9831.
