Another Turbocam expansion approved

33,000-square-foot plant in Barrington planned

Turbocam, a turbomachinery development and manufacturing company, has won approval from the town of Barrington to build a new 33,000-square-foot facility near its existing plant off Route 9.

According to Foster’s Daily Democrat, the town’s planning board unanimously approved plans for the new building, Turbocam’s third in Barrington, in November. The structure will consist of about 26,640 square feet of industrial space and about 6,240 square feet of office space.

Turbocam spokesperson Liz Dorsett told the newspaper that the new building will operate as Turbocam Energy Solutions, a subsidiary of Turbocam International. Workers in the new building will use a proprietary chemical treatment process to harden metal parts, helping reduce wear and tear on engine components, she said.

Once the new building is finished, Dorsett said the Turbocam Energy Solutions unit in Dover will be relocated to the new Barrington facility, while the Dover facility will be used for Turbocam’s research and development.

A construction date has not yet been set.

Turbocam opened a second 50,000-square-foot plant in Barrington last spring.
