After-school program to start

An enrichment and extended day program will be offered at the Amherst Middle School beginning Tuesday.

The program is designed for students interested in learning something new, hanging out with friends, and participating in various enrichment activities. The program will be held weekdays from 2:06 – 6 p.m. when school is in session.

The Amherst Enrichment and Extended Day Program will partner with the Boys and Girls Club of Souhegan Valley to provide after-school activities and quality enrichment opportunities. Joining the program also makes you a member of the Boys and Girls Club of Souhegan Valley and can use the club’s resources.

The Hillsborough County Board of Commissioners, in conjunction with the state Division of Children, Youth and Families, provided a $10,000 grant to offset some of the program costs. Program administrators are seeking additional grants. Payment options and financial aid will be available, and the Amherst Lions Club will provide special funding on a one-on-one basis.

The Parent Advisory Group has set up the enrichment programs. Programs include a babysitting class, book club, cooking class and robotics.
