WellPoint Inc. said Wednesday that its third-quarter revenue rose 135 percent to $11.3 billion from $4.8 billion.
Citing the merger with Anthem, growing enrollment and streamlining operations between the two companies, net income rose $640.7 million, or $1.02 per share, from $242.1 million, or 85 cents a share the previous quarter, beating analysts’ expectations of $1.01 by one cent.
WellPoint is the parent company of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in New Hampshire.
