PLANET FITNESS INCLUDED ON WHERE YOU WORK MATTERS LIST

Planet Fitness (NYSE: PLNT) has received a platinum designation on the 2026 Where You Work Matters list, ranking it among the top U.S. employers for workforce development and career opportunities.

The ranking, the highest tier awarded, recognizes companies that invest in employee growth and provide advancement opportunities across all levels. The list is produced by the American Opportunity Index, a project of the Schultz Family Foundation and the Burning Glass Institute, with methodology developed alongside Harvard Business School.

Unlike many workplace rankings, the index evaluates employers using publicly available data on career progression from more than 12 million workers, covering nearly 55,000 jobs across 1,750 U.S. companies.

Planet Fitness was recognized for its focus on employee support and long-term development. The company offers benefits including health care, flexible work options and financial wellness resources, along with training programs such as its Planet Fitness University online learning platform.

The company also promotes community engagement through its annual “Flexing for Good” volunteer initiative, encouraging employees and franchisees to give back locally.

Planet Fitness is one of the largest fitness center operators in the U.S., with more members than any other fitness brand.

WHITE MOUNTAINS ACQUIRES BASESIX

White Mountains Partners (WMP) has acquired a majority stake in BaseSix Systems LLC, a Georgia-based provider of low-voltage building systems integration and services.

Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Marietta, Ga., BaseSix designs, installs and maintains mission-critical systems for commercial and institutional clients. Its services span fire and life safety, networking and wireless, security and access control, and audio-visual systems.

WMP CEO and Managing Partner John Daly said the investment supports BaseSix’s growth as a multidisciplinary integration platform, citing the company’s track record of organic expansion and reputation for delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

BaseSix Co-Founder and CEO Robb Borden said the deal marks a “next logical step” for the company, positioning it to expand through new office openings and strategic acquisitions. He added that WMP was selected for its alignment with BaseSix’s culture and long-term vision.

White Mountains Partners is the private investment arm of White Mountains Insurance Group and focuses on founder- and family-owned businesses in sectors including essential services and light industrials.

Advisors on the transaction included Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP for WMP, while Deloitte Corporate Finance LLC and Miller & Martin PLLC advised BaseSix.

ALBANY ENGINEERED COMPOSITES NAMED ONE OF AMERICA’S SAFEST COMPANIES

Portsmouth-based Albany Engineered Composites (AEC), a subsidiary of Albany International Corp. (NYSE: AIN), has been named one of America’s Safest Companies by EHS Today, recognizing its environmental, health and safety (EHS) performance.

The award highlights organizations with strong safety cultures, low injury rates and comprehensive training programs. AEC, which manufactures advanced composite structures for aerospace and defense applications, was recognized for integrating safety practices into daily operations across its U.S. sites.

Ashley Dobbs, vice president of integrated operations and transformation, said the recognition reflects company-wide commitment to workplace safety and process design. Bryan Valdez, senior director of EHS, added that disciplined safety systems support both employee protection and reliable production at scale.

AEC supports high-volume production for commercial and military aircraft, turbine engines, space systems and emerging aerospace technologies such as hypersonics and advanced air mobility platforms.

The company also holds ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications, international standards for environmental and occupational health and safety management systems, which validate its approach to risk management and continuous improvement.

Since 2002, the America’s Safest Companies program has honored more than 250 organizations nationwide.
