12-hour radiothon to benefit N.H. veterans
Veterans Count, iHeartMedia team on first-of-its-kind event
New Hampshire’s first-ever 12-hour radiothon to benefit the Granite State veterans will be held March 25 on WGIR-AM 610 and Newsradio 97.7.
Scheduled to run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., the “Making 12 Hours Count” radiothon will also be broadcast at iHeartRadio.com.
The radiothon, which will be conducted by Veterans Count, a program of Easter Seals NH, will feature stories about the challenges faced by military families and how Veterans Count and other organizations provide support.
Additionally, the radiothon will include testimonials from clients, sponsor recognition, celebrity endorsements and check presentations.
It will be hosted by NH radio personality Jack Heath.
The radiothon is offering high-visibility, on-air and online sponsorship packages. Current supporting sponsors include Autofair, Granite Group Benefits, Grappone Automotive, Kittery Trading Post, Manchester Harley-Davidson, New England Dragway, Service Credit Union, Toyota of Portsmouth and Walmart.
Half the cost of each sponsorship will count as a tax deductible donation to Veterans Count.
Veterans Count is also seeking support from businesses and individuals interested in grassroots fundraising efforts prior to the radiothon. All donations over $1,000 can be presented on-air on March 25. Companies and individuals can also get involved by donating hourly incentives for call-in donations. Additionally, volunteers are needed to work the phone bank the day of the radiothon.
Since 2007, Veterans Count has provided services to some 8,000 individuals. Among those services are those addressing suicide prevention, employment, homelessness, substance abuse treatment, transportation, and mental health issues resulting from post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury.
Veterans Count also provides financial assistance for food, home maintenance, utilities, housing, rent, fuel assistance, vehicle repair, child care, gasoline, and medical bills.
