Water will be shut off in the area near Main and Temple streets late Sunday night and early Monday morning during work to upgrade some water mains that date back to the early 1900s.
Water will be off from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, according to Pennichuck Water Works distribution manager Marco Philippon.
“We do it at night so we don’t inconvenience anybody, or as little as possible,” Philippon said.
“It’s a very isolated area.”
Crews will be working on Main Street before 10 p.m., to excavate the water main.
Traffic will be reduced to two or three lanes at the intersection of Main and Temple streets, he said.
Traffic should be back to normal by 8 a.m. Monday.
Pennichuck is working in conjunction with the city on the project, which is part of Pennichuck’s ongoing capital improvements plan.
