A University Center, anchored by Granite State College, is the latest piece in downtown Claremont’s revitalization.
The center is an outgrowth of an initiative developed at an April economic forum in Claremont hosted by Gov. John Lynch. The center, at 27 Pleasant St. in downtown Claremont, is expected to open in the winter.
“The University Center will be a catalyst for creating an educated workforce that is essential to achieving economic success here in Claremont and across our state,” said Lynch in making the announcement yesterday in Claremont. “This will drive economic development in the downtown, even beyond where it is today,” Lynch said. “That is what university centers do.”
Some 200 to 250 students are expected to attend classes when the center initially opens.
