Business and event happenings around the state of NH

1. Sal’s Pizza is supporting Best Buddies International through a ‘Round-up’ through May 31. Customers can round up their purchase to the nearest dollar, or donate $1, $3 or $5 to support Best Buddies’ mission to create inclusive opportunities and meaningful connections for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This initiative is online and at Sal’s Pizza locations: Derry, Laconia, Manchester, Milford, New Hampton and Salem. Donations will help fund friendship programs, leadership development initiatives, community events, inclusive activations and more.

2. In March, Franklin Savings Bank announced it recently granted $10,000 to the Bristol Elementary School PTO to support the replacement of an existing playground that will provide students with a safe, modern and engaging play space, and a vibrant community hub. Franklin Savings Bank is an independent, mutually owned community bank, offering commercial lending, personal banking and investment services. Headquartered in Franklin, additional offices include Bristol, Boscawen, Tilton, Gilford, Merrimack and Goffstown.

3. Hannaford Supermarkets has donated more than 5 million pounds of food to local food pantries throughout New Hampshire last year, in partnership with the New Hampshire Food Bank. The donations equate to 4 million meals for individuals experiencing food insecurity. The donations also contributed to a record year for the grocery retailer’s food rescue program. Since 2022, Hannaford has increased its overall annual food donation totals by 15%.

4. Elliot Health System has opened a state-of-the-art, 1,000-square-foot cardiovascular operating room. The new facility provides board-certified surgeons with the latest tools to perform complex procedures in a space specifically designed for optimal patient outcomes. Elliot Health System has one of the largest specialized surgical suites in New England. The new, state-of-the-art suite furthers Elliot’s commitment to its mission to inspire wellness, heal patients and serve with compassion.

5. For the second year in a row, Franklin Savings Bank is again assisting with the cost of books for Franklin High School’s Early College Program. The program helps students earn college credits through Lakes Region Community College, and gives them a head-start on college courses and an edge in the workforce. Established in 1869, Franklin Savings Bank is an independent, mutually owned community bank, offering an array of commercial lending, personal banking and investment services.

6. Meredith Village Savings Bank (MVSB) announced its support of the Rochester Opera House‘s youth arts education programs with a $2,500 contribution. The nonprofit opera house offers classes, camps, workshops and private lessons designed to inspire artistic growth for all ages. The Rochester Opera House presents all-ages performances and educational programming year-round. MVSB has branch offices in Alton, Ashland, Center Harbor, Exeter, Gilford, Laconia, Melvin Village, Meredith, Moultonborough, North Conway, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Rochester and Wolfeboro.

7. Through a partnership with the ReGen Tech Valley Hub, funding from Economic Development Administration, New Hampshire Community Colleges, Community Action Program of Hillsboro and Rockingham, and YMCA staff, The Granite YMCA celebrated the graduation of their latest cohort of nine students who have recently completed the Empowered Futures Childcare Workforce Development Apprenticeship Program. The Granite YMCA’s Empowered Futures Program continues to develop the next generation of early childhood education and youth development professionals.
