Mesa International sold to equity firm

Mesa International, a Warner-based designer and wholesaler of home décor and tabletop products, has been sold to a Massachusetts private equity group for an undisclosed amount.

Under the deal, Jerry Barnes, chief executive officer of Mesa, will step down from that role and be replaced by Craig M. Stevens of Boylston, Mass., who led the private equity buyout.

Stevens said Barnes will serve as executive vice president and chief operating officer until the end of the year, after which he will “continue as an adviser to the board of directors in the future.”

He said the rest of the current management team will remain in place and that the firm will remain based in Warner and said there are plans for expansion domestically and internationally. The firm, which distributes its products around the world, also owns several retail stores. – JEFF FEINGOLD
