LSNE acquires sterile injectables manufacturing facility
Acquisition of firm in Spain gives NH company a foothold in Europe
Lyophilization Services of New England, a Bedford-based contract manufacturer, has acquired a sterile injectables manufacturing facility in León, Spain.
The company said the site, LSNE-León, will complement its existing full-service manufacturing capabilities and expand its reach into Europe.
LSNE said that, in addition to adding pre-filled syringe, ophthalmic and sterile bulk lyophilization capabilities, the new facility will focus on pharmaceutical products that have complex requirements, such as emulsions, suspensions, liposomal formulations and nanoparticle products.
The facility includes four high speed, automated aseptic fill lines and commercial scale lyophilization for the manufacture of clinical and commercial drug products, said Matthew Halvorsen, CEO of LSNE.
“Acquiring this high-quality facility in León was the logical next step in our growth strategy, given our strong and growing client base in Europe,” Halvorsen said.
The acquisition is LSNE’s second since its purchase in 2017 by New York-based equity fund Permira. In April 2018, LSNE acquired a 37,000-square-foot aseptic fill finish facility in Madison, Wis.
