BEDFORD – Lightning from an early morning thunderstorm on Sunday struck a Bowman Parade Road home and sparked a fire that left it heavily damaged and uninhabitable, Fire Chief Scott Wiggin said in a prepared statement.
The homeowner, who wasn’t identified, called 911 at 2:42 a.m. to report the strike and fire at 20 Bowman Parade Road, Wiggin said. Shortly after arriving, firefighters upgraded to a second alarm, which brought help from departments in Merrimack, Amherst, Manchester, and Goffstown.
Wiggin said the fire was quickly knocked down, but not before causing extensive damage to the basement and first floor. He said the home may be able to be rebuilt.
