Historical Society sets meeting

The Historical Society will meet on Thursday at 7 p.m., at the Wilton Public-Gregg Free Library.

The speaker will be Society member Lynne Draper who will give a presentation on Samuel Chamberlain, a noted photographer, etcher and lithographer, who was known as the “Photographer Laureate of New England.”

He traveled through the region from the 1930s to the 1970s and produced a wide range of books, calendars and postcards depicting the architecture, landscape, and flavor of New England.

Draper will bring a selection of books and other items from her extensive collection of Chamberlain items.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

Manchester was rated No. 3, while Nashua was close behind at No. 5., based on a “Quality of Services” score that WalletHub developed using 36 metrics across six key service areas — financial stability, education, health, safety, economy and infrastructure/pollution.
