The Amherst Town Library now offers free wireless Internet access for library patrons.
The way the new system works is that people with wireless laptop computers will be able to access the Internet from most tables or chairs in the library and even some areas outside the building.
Because the library uses the WiFi standard, to use the new service the laptops must have built-in WiFi or patrons must have a WiFi PC card. Access to wall outlets is limited so it is recommended that the laptop’s battery be fully charged.
Wireless enables the library to offer this service without having to go through the expense of upgrading and installing new wiring.
For more information, contact library Director Natasha Casteel at 673-2288 or ncasteel@amherst.lib.nh.us.
