BIA backs new internship website

Partnership with national site aims at ‘keeping the best talent and top businesses in New Hampshire’

The Business and Industry Association is putting its name behind a national website that matches employers' internships and students.

“Research shows that seven out of 10 students who have had an internship with an employer are hired by that same employer,” said BIA President Jim Roche. “Connecting college students with local companies helps educate the next generation of our workforce while keeping the best talent and top businesses in New Hampshire.”

The free website — — is a partnership with, a national website that is part of Career Arc Group, located in Burbank, Calif.

Career Arc Group says its various companies serve 35 million visitors and some 50,000 companies (including two-thirds of the Fortune 100) and more than 385 universities.

The BIA internship page puts the organization’s face on, enabling both students and companies to find each other. Right now, some 21 internship opportunities in the Manchester area are listed on the site, nine of which are paid. The site highlights a technical internship at Fidelity Investments, for instance, that pays $21.13 an hour, as well unpaid positions, such as in Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter’s New Hampshire office.

The New Hampshire organization Stay Work Play already has its own website,, that does the same thing on a statewide level. And Jason Alexander – a managing partner at BANK W Holdings in Bedford whose portfolio companies are Alexander Technology Group, KBW Financial Staffing & Recruiting and The Nagler Group – helped founded that site in 2012, and it has grown to about 100 listings, about 40 percent of which are paid.

Alexander said he welcomed the new site. “As long as the end result is more students and graduates getting local internships, I say more power to them.”

BIA spokesperson Adrienne Rupp said she wasn’t sure about what other internship sites are out there, but said the latest venture is “another tool available to employers and students. has a solid reputation and a robust database of students.”
