Averill named GSA’s New England administrator

Former Capitol Hill, New England Council staffer to oversee agency’s six-state operation

Christopher Averill, a former staffer on Capitol Hill and lobbyist for The New England Council, has been named the New England regional administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration.

As the regional administrator, will oversee all of GSA’s operations in New Hampshire, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont, including management of federal real estate and information technology. He will also be responsible for an inventory of 422 government-owned or leased buildings and 332 employees.

Since August 2017, Averill has served in GSA’s Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs in the agency’s Washington, D.C., headquarters. He also spent seven years on Capitol Hill, as communications director for former U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine and Congressman Sam Graves, as well as serving on the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. In between his work in the public sector, Averill worked for The New England Council as director of federal affairs
