Three New Hampshire firms filed for reorganization in June as bankruptcy filings continue to hover at their lowest levels in a quarter of century.
In June, 163 households and businesses filed for protection, 22 percent lower than June 2014 and 9 percent lower than May 2015. It was the lowest number of June filings since 1990, except for 2006, when federal bankruptcy law was changed, making it more difficult to file (even then there were only five fewer filings).
June was tied with this past February, having the second-lowest total of the year and the fourth lowest of the decade.
The lowest number of filings of any month since 1990 (excluding 2006) was in January, when 155 households and businesses filed for protection.
Meanwhile, three businesses filed for bankruptcies, one fewer than last month. All were Chapter 11 reorganizations. There were also eight individuals who filed with business-related debt. The businesses that filed were:
• Alpha Asbestos Abatement Inc., Bedford, filed June 18, Chapter 11. Assets: $1,146,526. Liabilities: $424,800.
• Northern Tier Real Estate Acquisition and Development, Portsmouth, filed June 24, Chapter 11. Assets and Liabilities: $1 million to $10 million.
• Diamond Oaks Golf Club LLC, Kingston, filed June 24, Chapter 11. Assets: $1,035,200. Liabilities: $1,123,518.
