DHMC takes part in medical training jobs program

Through an extensive recruitment process, up to 30 individuals will be selected for 10-week training programs

Dartmouth-Hitchcock and the nonprofit Vermont HITEC education center have undertaken a program to train and employ 20 medical assistants and 10 pharmacy technicians at the medical center in Lebanon.

The program is a collaborative effort that also involves the U.S. Department of Labor, the Vermont Department of Labor, the NH Health Profession Opportunity Project, NH Works and the New Hampshire Department of Employment Security.

Through an extensive recruitment process, up to 30 individuals will be selected for 10-week training programs at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. The free training programs will prepare participants to take either the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam or the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant exam. Upon graduation from the training, participants will fill either enhanced medical assistant or a pharmacy technician apprentice positions. All positions will receive full wages and benefits.

The pay scale for graduates of the two Dartmouth-Hitchcock programs will start at approximately $14 per hour, with the potential to earn up to $15 to $17 per hour upon the completion of a one-year apprenticeship, officials said. All positions will include a comprehensive benefits package.
