Business and event happenings around the state of NH

1. Meredith Village Savings Bank announces its support for Home For All, a Seacoast-based nonprofit that envisions access to safe, stable and affordable housing for everyone. Home For All was recently awarded capacity-building tax credits from the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) to expand its capacity and advance housing solutions around the Seacoast. Meredith Village Savings Bank announced it purchased $10,000 to support Home For All’s efforts.

2. New Hampshire Historical Society in Concord announced it is using awarded tax credits from the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) to complete renovations at its Collection Management Center. Renovations include a new climate control system. Meredith Village Savings Bank purchased $10,000 in tax credits to support the project. The New Hampshire Historical Society, founded in 1823, collects, preserves and interprets materials of New Hampshire’s past and its connection to the present.

3. The New Hampshire Writers’ Project (NHWP) launched the Colonel Melvin Weston Rowell Literary Project for Veterans with “Veterans Out Loud,” at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton. Veterans, staff and community partners gathered as author Martin Swirko read from his novel “All Routes Are Amber.” Residents received complimentary signed copies of the book. The event was coordinated with Beverly Stoddart with NHWP and Maureen Campbell at the Veterans Home, and co-sponsored by American Legion Post 88.

4. The Greater Lakes Region Children’s Fund recently distributed $765,035 in grant funds to 76 area nonprofit organizations during a gathering at Laconia Country Club. The amount was the largest allocation, to the most organizations, in the Fund’s 44-year history. Organizations will use the grants to fund programs that support children and families in need in areas including abuse mitigation, mentoring, literacy, housing, family support, food insufficiency, substance misuse, clothing, after-school programming and more.

5. Earlier this month, Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire (AFP-NH) held “Live Free and Learn,” which brought together activists, legislators, parents who homeschool and school-choice advocates to talk about efforts to expand home education. The event featured Chair of House Education Policy and Administration Rep. Kristin Noble; Chair of House Executive Departments and Administration Rep. Erica Layon; Executive Director for Rebuild NH, Melissa Blasek; and AFP-NH Deputy State Director Sarah Scott.

6. Meredith Village Savings Bank announced its support for the Mount Washington Valley Housing Coalition with a $1,500 donation, continuing its support for housing challenges in the region. 7. Badger Peabody & Smith Realty held its annual award celebration and lunch in January to recognize agents and staff. Award presentations were held at the Red Fox Bar and Grill in Jackson. Andy Smith, CEO and broker/owner of Badger Peabody & Smith Realty, helped recognize their agents and staff. Beth Horan of the firm’s Franconia office received the Residential Sales Associate of 2025 award. The firm also recognized the top agents for each of the other offices.
