Catholic Diocese of Manchester opens K-6 school in Northwood

Regina Maria Academy at 842 First NH Turnpike in Northwood marked its inaugural school year with a Mass and ceremonial ribbon-cutting last week. The Most Reverend Peter A. Libasci, D.D., Bishop of Manchester, the Roman Catholic Church in NH, celebrated the Mass at St. Joseph Mission Church.

The Mass was followed by Bishop Libasci’s blessing of the school and the ribbon-cutting. The events were attended by Very Reverend John MacKenzie, Pastor of St. Joseph Mission Church, who concelebrated the Mass, along with Catholic Schools Superintendent David Thibault, principal Aaron Durocher, staff, members of the school’s Advisory Board, students and their families.

“Regina Maria Academy is the sixth new Catholic school to open in 10 years here in the Diocese of Manchester,” Thibault said in a press release. “It is a blessing to see yet another community come together and say, ‘we are called to have a Catholic school,’ and then through work and prayer, see the fruit of God’s providence.”

Regina Maria Academy is a kindergarten through grade 6 school and is currently accepting enrollments. The Diocese of Manchester school provides a classical education designed to challenge and motivate all students to reach their full potential in mind, body and spirit. Its Christ-centered curriculum is rooted in Catholic theology with a commitment to faith and reason.

“Regina Maria Academy is dedicated to the Blessed Mother,” said Durocher.

“We entrust this school to her care and give thanks to our Lord, Jesus Christ. We look forward to growing the school to serve more students and families.”

Regina Maria Academy’s Outdoor Classroom Project complements its curriculum and promotes creativity and exploration of the environment.

Catholic identity is a priority of the school’s board, staff, students and families. The school community attends Mass twice per week, has daily prayer and rosary, participates in Eucharistic adoration, has monthly confession opportunities and learns daily religious education lessons.
