IEEE forum to look at expanding broadband in under-served areas in New Hampshire

Digital divide, options for communities to be focus of discussion

A free online forum aimed at addressing options and plans for extending high-speed internet access to under-served areas of New Hampshire. is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 21.

The event is being presented by the New Hampshire chapter of IEEE, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Featured will be speakers who will discuss the demographic and economic issues behind the state’s digital divide, the. technology options communities have for high-speed internet access and proposed federal and New Hampshire plans to extend broadband to under-served areas.

The speakers are

Steve Camerino, president and CEO of New Hampshire Electric Cooperative, which is working to expand high speed internet service in the underserved communities in New Hampshire.
Eric Burger, research professor of computer science at Georgetown University, formerly an assistant director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and CTO of the FCC.
Larry Press, professor emeritus of information systems at California State University Dominguez Hills, who has followed internet via satellite projects since the first generation of low earth observation constellations.
