7 businesses file as Aug. bankruptcies fall
After a brief plateau in July, New Hampshire bankruptcy filings fell in August to below 300 — a level not seen since 1998.In August, some 296 households and businesses filed for bankruptcy protection. That's 12 percent lower than July and 16 percent lower than August 2011.Year to date, bankruptcies are running 12.5 percent lower than 2011, which wound up being a marked improvement from 2010, when some 5,500 were filed by the close of the year.

Liabilities: $100,000 to $500,000.• Hooksett Plumbing & Heating Inc., Hooksett, filed Aug. 21, Chapter 7. Assets: $50,000 to $100,000. Liabilities: $100,000 to $500,000.• Pathfinder Academy LLC, Epsom, filed Aug. 27, Chapter 7. Assets: $12,967. Liabilities: $257,243.• Pathfinder Real Estate LLC, Epsom, filed Aug. 27, Chapter 7.
