23 N.H. businesses file for bankruptcy in October
After being lulled into complacency in September, there’s a big resurgence
October was more like a trick than a treat when it comes to bankruptcy filings in New Hampshire, and it might even set some to wondering how thankful we’ll be about the economy by the end of November.
After being lulled into complacency with only one business-related bankruptcy filing in September — the lowest number in years – some 23 were filed in October, just one short of the highest number filed since NHBR started keeping track of business-related individual filings as well filings specifically made by businesses.
All told, there were some 281 bankruptcy filings in October — 36 percent more than in September. Though that still is 10 percent less than October 2012, it is not as large as the monthly year-over-year decreases that we’ve seen throughout the rest of 2013.
