2 Derry teens killed in crash

CHESTER (AP) – Two teenagers were killed Wednesday afternoon in a head-on crash with a dump truck at the intersection of Route 102 and Fremont Road, police said.

The victims were identified as Alan Kauffman, 19, and Matthew Lampassi, 17, both of Derry.

State police said Kauffman’s eastbound car crossed over the center line and collided with the truck driven by John Colman, 60, of Chester. Lampassi was in Kauffman’s car. Colman was not injured.

The highway was closed for several hours.

State police said speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
