PC Connection sees 2Q increase

Earnings increased in the second quarter for Merrimack-based PC Connection, the company reported Thursday.

Net sales for the second quarter ended June 30 increased 8 percent, or $33 million, to $441.1 million, compared to the $408.1 million reported for second quarter 2006.

Net income for the quarter increased 85 percent to $5.8 million, or 21 cents per share, compared to the $3.1 million, or 12 cents per share, reported for second quarter 2006.

Net sales for the first six months of 2007 increased 6.4 percent, or $50.7 million, to $839.3 million, compared to the $788.6 million reported for the first six months of 2006.

Net income for the first six months of 2007 was $9.1 million, or 34 cents per share, compared to $4.8 million, 19 cents per share a year earlier.

Gross profit rose 6 percent to $54 million in the second quarter of 2007, compared to $50.7 million for second quarter 2006.

The company’s Public Sector Segment showed the greatest growth for the second quarter, increasing by 16.9 percent to $75.6 million. Newly awarded federal and state government contracts contributed to this growth. – TRACIE STONE
