The Nottingham Planning Board has accepted USA Springs Inc.’s application to build a water bottling plant in town, but postponed public comment until Sept. 22.
At the next meeting, the board will devote the first 45 minutes to three issues in particular: the bottling process; bottling capacity; and the manufacturing of plastic bottles. USA Springs plans to manufacture its own containers at the plant as opposed to having them delivered.
The rest of the Sept. 22 hearing, as well as additional meetings, if necessary, will be devoted to public comment.
Earlier this summer, USA Springs gained state approval to withdraw almost 310,000 gallons of water a day from wells on the company’s 100-acre property, so long as contamination at an abutting site is cleaned.
