New president found for Claremont college

Barely a week after the resignation of its new president, New Hampshire Community Technical College in Claremont has found a successor.

Steven G. Budd, assistant vice president for institutional advancement at Springfield Technical Community College in Massachusetts, has been named president of the Claremont school. He will take over for Cheryl Groeneveld, who stepped down as president of the college after barely three weeks on the job.

Budd had been a finalist for the job in the previous presidential search that selected Groeneveld.

“Steven made an extremely positive impression on the college community as a finalist in the presidential search,” said Robert Mallat of Keene, chair of the New Hampshire Community Technical College System search committee. “His accomplishments and experience correspond well to opportunities that exist in the Claremont and Keene regions. He was a very strong candidate and we are delighted to welcome him to the college and to the communities we serve.”

Budd will officially assume his post on a full-time basis on Sept. 4, officials said. – JEFF FEINGOLD
