I know the New England Council and its work. It is a fine organization, in my opinion. However, Chief Executive Jim Brett’s op-ed (“New England: many voices, one region,” Oct. 26-Nov. 8 New Hampshire Business Review) on the virtues of the congressional delegates from the six states acting in concert — to imitate California and Texas, say what!?!! — is as welcome as a skunk at a lawn party.
Steely independence is about all that has ever bound New England together. No amount of wishful thinking will change that, and we can thank heaven.
