Sixteen families helped by Harbor Homes got a reprieve when the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development agreed to recalculate a housing grant.
The Nashua nonprofit organization learned a five-year housing grant was being reduced by 19 percent, putting clients at risk of losing the assistance.
Peter Kelleher, executive director at Harbor Homes, said an effort by U.S. Rep. Charles Bass’ staff helped to solve the problem.
The error was due to a discrepancy on the part of HUD, according to a Bass press release.
A solution was found to ensure the grant is not reduced in the future, he said.
