Group purchases land near Jericho State Park for off-road recreation park

Ex-Pat Ninkovich, MOMs owner seek to ‘enhance’ tourism efforts in region

A partnership that includes the owner of MOMS and retired New England Patriots football star Rob Ninkovich has purchased 1,300 acres next to Jericho Mountain State Park in Berlin to develop into an off-road recreation park.

In a release, Four Wheeler Holdings LLC, said it wants to develop the property to include riding opportunities, facilities to host off-road events and expanded multipurpose trails open year-round to hikers as well as other outdoor enthusiasts.

The partnership purchased the property on Nov. 5 and will “work with local and state business and recreation officials to assess how future development can complement and enhance the area’s off-road tourism,” according to the release.

Joel Wheeler, president of Four Wheeler Holdings and owner of MOMS (the former Motorcycles of Manchester), called the project an “opportunity to create an off-road destination that is accessible by area trail networks and that increases year-round powersports tourism in New Hampshire’s North Country.”

Jerico State Park Sign“We want the property’s trails to connect with the area’s outstanding existing trail networks to serve off-road riders, snowmobilers, hikers and bicyclists,” Wheeler said, adding that “to help us best assess development and preservation possibilities, we are consulting with riders, off-road organizations, business development officials, forestry management and vehicle manufacturers.”

Among the ideas under consideration:

  • Establishing off-road vehicle, hiking and biking trails that connect with adjacent trail systems.
  • Building a facility for meetings and events
  • Building a natural amphitheater.
  • Establishing a rest area with food service atop a scenic overlook.
  • Establishing a training center for rider safety classes and dealer development.

Rob Ninkovich, a two-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriot and an equal partner in the Berlin property, is also a partner in the newest MOMS dealership, which recently opened in Gorham.

The project is yet another sign of continued development related to Jericho State Park.

Chichester businessman Bruce Luksza recently announced the purchase of the 300-acre Jericho Gateway Campground on Route 110 with immediate plans to improve the existing campsites for the 2021 season as well as adding RV hookups, four season cabins and tent sites.
