Pitco scraps plan for new Concord factory
A long-discussed plan by Pitco to build a huge manufacturing facility in Concord has been scrapped, with the company focusing instead on its existing two sites in Bow and one in Pembroke.

GKN Aerospace is expanding its North Charlestown, New Hampshire, manufacturing facility, adding approximately 57,000 square feet and tripling the site’s size to increase production of high-performance aero-engine components.
The expansion will include a dedicated production cell for compressor blades and vanes, addressing rising demand for complex engine parts and supporting both current and future commercial and defense engine programs. The company is also bringing additional manufacturing processes in-house to improve production flexibility and responsiveness.
The investment strengthens operational ties with GKN Aerospace’s Muncie, Indiana, facility, combining advanced forging capabilities with precision machining to provide an integrated manufacturing solution for critical engine components.
The project is expected to create new skilled manufacturing jobs while expanding GKN Aerospace’s U.S. production footprint. State officials said the investment reinforces New Hampshire’s position as a center for advanced manufacturing.
“We are investing in engine component manufacturing capabilities where our customers need us most,” said Alexander Andersson, senior vice president of product solutions. “This expansion in the U.S. strengthens our capacity in a critical area of the supply chain and reinforces our position as a trusted partner on key engine programs.”
Steve Fortier, administrator of rural economic development at the New Hampshire Department of Business and Economic Affairs, said the expansion demonstrates confidence in the state’s manufacturing workforce and will support regional economic growth.
The investment comes as aerospace manufacturers face increasing demand and constrained industry capacity for compressor blades and vanes, positioning GKN Aerospace to expand production of critical engine components.
GKN Aerospace develops aerostructures and engine systems for commercial and defense aircraft. The company operates more than 30 sites in 12 countries, employs approximately 16,000 people worldwide, and reported annual sales of £3.6 billion. It is part of Melrose Industries PLC.
