C&S Wholesale Grocers, the second-largest grocery distributor in the country, has moved its corporate headquarters from Brattleboro, Vt., to Keene, N.H.
But the privately owned company, which has sales of $13 billion so far this year, did not move into the new $15 million corporate headquarters it planned to construct.
Instead, the company moved approximately 330 of its jobs to Corporate Drive in Keene and resides in a 45,000-square-foot building, according to the Keene Planning Department.
C&S officials said the Corporate Road facility is their interim location as the company reevaluates its original design plans for Keene.
The company plans to keep approximately 870 jobs in Brattleboro, in a combination of warehousing, distribution and trucking positions.
C&S officials had hoped to move into the new headquarters at the end of 2003 — but lawsuits over the company’s plans to build on wetlands and quick growth through several business acquisitions have delayed construction.
