Niel Cannon, executive director of the Capital Regional Development Council, has announced his plans to retire from the post he has held since 1991.
He said he plans to continue working with CRDC until a new executive director is found.
Since joining CRDC in 1991, the 61-year-old Cannon has overseen the deployment of over $150 million in capital, including loans to over 250 small businesses, and the creation and/or retention of over 10,000 jobs, the organization said in a press release.
Under Cannon’s guidance, CRDC initiated the redevelopment of the former Concord Lumber property, which included construction of the Grappone Conference Center, the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel and four office buildings on the site. – JEFF FEINGOLD
