The lengthy process to clean up the incidental spilling of hazardous waste at a Crown Street business is entering its final phase.
Since 2001, the state Department of Environment Services has considered the cleanup completed at the Coating Systems Inc. facility.
The groundwater at the site meets quality standards and a plan prevents people from coming in contact with the contaminated area, according to David Bowen, the program manager. The cleanup began back in the early 1980s.
The federal Environmental Protection Agency requires a 30-day comment period for the community to provide input about the facility and the cleanup. Residents can review the file and make additional comments.
The file on the company’s cleanup can be found at the DES’ public information center at 29 Hazen Drive in Concord. The phone number is 271-2975.
Comments on the cleanup should be submitted to RCRA Correction Action Plan Manager, NH Department of Environmental Services, Waste Management Division, 29 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH 03301.
