The American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) has named Woodard & Curran as a 2021 Bronze Engineering Excellence Award winner for their work on the University of New Hampshire’s Water Treatment Plant.

The University of New Hampshire hired design-build project team Woodard & Curran and Waterline Industries to design and construct a new water treatment plant to replace its antiquated, 85-year-old facility. The new plant, designed to treat up to 2 million gallons of water per day from three unique raw water sources, utilizes an efficient, zero-liquid discharge treatment process to deliver quality water to the university’s campus and town of Durham.

Founded in 1979, Woodard & Curran is a Portland, Maine-based integrated engineering, science and operations  company with national presence. Privately held and steadily growing, they serve public and private clients across the country.

The 2021 Engineering Excellence Awards were recently announced and will be celebrated at the virtual ACEC/MA Engineering Excellence and Awards Gala. The awards celebrate innovation, ingenuity and excellence in engineering achievement.

“The ACEC/MA Engineering Excellence Awards Competition recognizes engineering achievements that demonstrate the highest degree of merit and ingenuity,” said Scott A. Miller, president of ACEC/MA and regional vice president for Haley Ward. “We celebrate this year’s outstanding engineering achievements, congratulate our winners and thank them for their contributions to improving the quality of our everyday lives.”
