Exeter Hospital plans cancer center expansion
Planning board to hear plan for 6,400-square-foot, $9 million project
Exeter Hospital has unveiled plans for a 6,417-square-foot addition to its cancer center.
The proposed expansion of the hospital’s Center for Cancer Care is estimated to cost approximately $9 million.
The center, located in the main hospital building on the campus at 5 Alumni Drive, was built in 2003 and is currently 20,731 square feet.
Exeter Hospital has had a longstanding relationship with Massachusetts General Hospital, which provides radiation oncologists and medical oncologists/hematologists at the hospital with access to the Boston hospital’s cancer specialists and research.
Debra Vasapolli, director of community relations for the hospital, said the goal of expansion is to provide additional space for patients and staff to create a more comfortable atmosphere and improve the overall experience.
The proposal goes before the planning board on Thursday at 7 p.m. If all goes as planned, the hospital hopes to break ground on the project in the spring.
