1. On July 26, the fifth annual Scott Mullin Memorial Ride took place at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, raising $21,000. Hundreds of riders first gathered at the Mullin family dealership, Souhegan Valley Motorsports. Scott Mullin, 38, of Milford, died in a racing accident on Aug. 1, 2021. In 2022, Mullin’s parents established the Scott M. Mullin Memorial Scholarship Fund to provide need-based financial assistance to Manchester Community College’s Powersports program students. The scholarship is an endowed fund held by The Foundation for New Hampshire Community Colleges. So far, the Fund has awarded 20 scholarships.
2. On Aug. 27, Wonder hosted a ribbon-cutting at its new Salem location, at 115A S. Broadway, with giveaways and promotions. Wonder is a mealtime platform that combines delivery, pickup, dine-in, meal kits and food innovation in one. Through Wonder’s multi-restaurant ordering, customers can mix and match dishes from multiple chefs and restaurants into one order. Wonder has 17 locations across New Hampshire and Massachusetts, with more planned in the near future.
3. On Aug. 27, Granite Outdoor Alliance industry leaders gathered at Cranmore Mountain Resort in North Conway for a Field Day of recreation, networking and economic development, part of Granite Outdoor Alliance’s Rocktails & Streams series. 4. On Aug. 26, NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire hosted an “Out of the Ground” gathering in Manchester to celebrate construction of The Apartments at Pearl & Orange. 5. Eastern Bank Foundation and Cambridge Trust Wealth Management and Private Banking, a division of Eastern Bank, announced support of GoodWork’s mission to strengthen Greater Seacoast nonprofits by maximizing their capacity to meet community needs. 6. At the recent Be Creative MuralFest, 10 artists worked to transform the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Nashua by creating five large-scale murals at the club at One Positive Place in Nashua. The public was invited on Aug. 31 to meet the artists as they worked and visit the murals. The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua is supported in part by a grant from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. The festival is also supported by the Red Sox Foundation.
7. On Aug. 23, NH Lottery hosted a simulated race at NH Motor Speedway ahead of the Dollar Tree 301. The race was held between Gov. Kelly Ayotte and NASCAR driver Mark Martin to support public education. Each represented a New Hampshire school who won the opportunity via a Facebook contest. Martin and Ayotte were randomly assigned to represent Groveton High School and Somersworth High School, respectively, in a virtual race. Both schools were awarded $5,000 from the Lottery.
