Under Helene’s leadership, the Y has served as an active partner in the Monadnock community, addressing the region’s most serious issues.
This summer, when a local teen passed away from a drug overdose, Helene launched a community-wide coalition to develop and implement strategies to help youth under 18 years old who are dealing with substance abuse. At the Y, she added a staff position for teen programming to help teens feel heard, honored and included in the organization.
In 2018, the Y is on track to provide $300,000 in financial support to more than 2,000 individuals from babies to seniors in their nineties.
The variety of programming and vulnerable populations served by the Y is even more extraordinary considering the financial challenges of running a nonprofit.
Helene has been recognized for her leadership through Y-USA, which has signaled her as a leader to emulate.
