New Hampshire bankruptcies continued their downward trend in April after a slight uptick in March.
Some 240 Granite State households and businesses filed for bankruptcy protection in April, 25 fewer than in March and a 22 percent decline from April 2013. And it was the best April since 1997, when 237 filings were recorded.
There were 13 business-related filings, two more than in March. Six companies filed as businesses, but there were seven households that filed with recent business-related debt. As in past practice, NHBR will list the related businesses, not the individual:
• Amish Country Barn LLC, Concord, filed April 2, Chapter 7. Assets: $75,432. Liabilities: $676,909. (Business filing)
• Concord Power and Steam LLC, Hooksett, filed April 14, Chapter 7. Assets: 0. Liabilities: $4,981,234. (Note: This is not the owner of the Concord Steam plant, but the owners of a failed project to relocate it on the south end of the city. (Business filing).
