After more than a decade at the helm of Monadnock Community Hospital, president and CEO Cyndee McGuire will retire next year, the hospital announced Thursday, June 19.
A national search for her replacement is underway, and the board of trustees is working with consulting firm WittKieffer to find a successor, the hospital said in a news release.
McGuire announced her retirement early to allow for “a thoughtful and seamless leadership change,” the news release said. She is expected to step down sometime in early 2026, according to the hospital.
“Being your leader has not only been a privilege but it has also been one of the greatest joys of my career and my life,” she said in the release. “I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together.”
McGuire has been in the role since 2014, and her tenure in health care spans nearly 50 years, the hospital said in the news release. She replaced Peter Gosline, who retired after 16 years in the position.
A mainstay in the region since 1923, the nonprofit hospital is a 25-bed facility offering services such as emergency care, obstetrics, gastroenterology and surgery. In addition to its clinics in Peterborough, the hospital operates satellite primary care clinics in Jaffrey and Antrim, according to its website. The hospital employs 644 people, including 361 clinical staff, according to its human resources department.
“Cyndee’s leadership has been a gift to our hospital and community,” Paul Faber, chair of the hospital’s board of trustees, said in the news release. “We have been fortunate to have a president and CEO who embodies our values of compassion, collaboration, honesty and respect.”
