Powered by Women will feature five successful women leaders from different career backgrounds and perspectives, who will give 10-minute talks about their personal and professional growth followed by a 45-minute panel discussion moderated by Tiffany Eddy.

As many Outstanding Women in Business winners have delivered heartfelt and eye-opening tales of their journeys, Powered by Women serves to connect women leaders through these stories that will leave them feeling empowered and informed to succeed in their endeavors.

Tiffany Eddy is a communications specialist who is responsible for the development and execution of strategic communications for all clients.

She spent nearly two decades as a broadcast journalist, focused on taking complex issues and synthesizing them into understandable concepts for a large audience. Tiffany has been honored with the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award, is a three-time Emmy nominee and her work has been recognized for excellence by two New Hampshire Governors.

Tiffany now works with clients on multiple platforms to assess their specific needs and then execute the best plan to communicate their message.

Mary Jo Brown

Founder & President, Brown & Company Design

Mary Johanna Brown is Founder and President of Brown & Company Design, a strategic design firm established in 1992, and Big Brown Books, a publishing company established in 1997. Clients are varied in size and industry, including the Telluride Film Festival, Planet Fitness, Backyard Garlic, New Hampshire Public Television, RiverWoods and more. As an active volunteer, Mary Jo has served on several New Hampshire nonprofit boards and is engaged in many community activities throughout the Granite State. Currently is the Founding Chair Emeritus of the New Hampshire Women’s Foundation, a merger born in October 2014 from the New Hampshire Women’s Initiative and the Women’s Fund of New Hampshire.She currently serves on the board of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. Mary Jo was named to New Hampshire Magazine’s “Remarkable Women” list in 2009 and to Business New Hampshire Magazine’s “Influencer Index” in 2014. She enjoys traveling, singing, and gardening with her thirteen-year-old daughter Haley.   


Maureen Beauregard

President, Families in Transition-New Horizons
2011 Outstanding Women in Business recipient

Discussion Theme: Resiliency & Relationships

Maureen Beauregard started Families in Transition in 1991 working with five homeless women and their children. Today, the agency serves more than 170 families and 180 children on each given night. She is responsible for oversight of all aspects of the agency, including programmatic, financial, fundraising, project development, and policies.

Prior employment includes working for the State of New Hampshire, Division for Children Youth & Families as a social worker working with abused and neglected families. She also worked for Phoenix East as a substance abuse counselor in a halfway house.

Currently, she sits on the Board of Directors of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.  She was on the Governing Council of Housing Action New Hampshire, the Chairperson of New Hampshire Interagency Council on Homelessness, and on the Advisory Board Member of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundations Manchester Region.

Over her career, Maureen has been granted numerous awards including the 2017 Citizen of the Year by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, YMCA Susan B. Anthony Award, NASW Citizen of the Year Award, Pastoral Counseling’s Good Samaritan Award, Citizens Bank Good Citizens Award, Girl’s Inc.’s Woman of Achievement Award, NH Commission on the Status of Women – Women’s Recognition Award, NH Business Review’s Business Excellence Award and the Key to The City of Manchester by Mayor Robert Baines.


Sandy Cleary

Founder, SLC Group Holdings
2014 Outstanding Women in Business recipient

Twenty-five years ago, Sandy Cleary left her career as an aerospace engineer to follow her passion and start a cruise travel agency in her mother’s basement. Under Cleary’s leadership, CruCon Cruise Outlet grew to one of the largest sellers of cruises in North America, with more than $135 million in annual cruise volume. In 2017, Sandy launched a groundbreaking partnership with HSN, making on-air appearances to share her love of cruising with HSN’s 90 million households. Sandy has won a number of awards and honors throughout her career for both her achievements in the cruise industry and her philanthropic efforts. Her latest venture, SLC Group Holdings, seeks to partner with passionate business owners and entrepreneurs that need an investment to take their business or product idea to the next level. 


Susan Ryan

President & CEO, Spaulding Youth Center
2018 Outstanding Women in Business recipient

Discussion Theme: Interrelationships of Trust, Authentic Leadership and Inspiration

A difficult childhood forced Susan Ryan to confront early on what pathway she would embark on in life. Becoming a young adult, Susan made the determination that only she could decide if she wanted a good life. Rather than being a victim of her circumstances, she could use her experiences to empathize with and teach others. That philosophy has aided Susan throughout her 30-year career working in executive roles at nonprofits as well as in health care, information technology and financial services. Today, Susan serves as the president and CEO of the Spaulding Youth Center in Northfield, a 150-year-old organization that provides therapeutic residential and educational services to approximately 100 students, half of whom live on campus until they are reunited with their families or rejoin their community.


Dianne Mercier

President, People's United Bank New Hampshire
2012 Outstanding Women in Business recipient

Discussion Theme: Curiosity

Dianne Mercier is the president of People’s United Bank in New Hampshire. She started her banking career in 1985. She has served as Senior Vice President and Group Manager for Commercial Lending at Ocean Bank and was State Director, Community Banking for Citizens Bank. Dianne is actively involved with the Boys and Girls Club of Manchester and the Greater Manchester Family YMCA. She serves on the Board for the Central Business District Committee for the City of Manchester and is a Trustee for the Elliot Health System. She is a member of the 2009 class of the Leadership New Hampshire program.

Dianne was named an Outstanding Woman in Business by New Hampshire Business Review in 2012, and Business Leader of the Year in 2014.  In 2016, she was named Manchester Citizen of the Year by the Daniel Webster Council of the Boy Scouts of America. In 2017, she was named Citizen of the Year by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, an award that recognizes outstanding leadership and citizenship in the community and the demonstration of exemplary vision, civic pride and commitment to the betterment of society.
