Does entrepreneurship run in the blood? For the Bamford family, maybe so.
Keith Bamford and his two brothers, Dan and Eric, decided to start up their own small business over a decade ago, inspired by their parents, who had run an insurance business of their own.
Thirteen years ago, the Bamford brothers founded Daystar Inc. in Newington, which provides IT support to businesses of all sizes.
Since then, the company has grown so much that it now employs 21 people, who provide IT support to hundreds of area businesses.
Keith is a hands-on owner. He personally vets every solution that Daystar recommends to clients.
He is so dedicated to his customers that he hosts biannual meetings with clients to discuss their relationship with the company and technology in general.
Daystar is a great place to work. On top of securing $10,000 in state funding to train staff members, the company has a bonus program, offers flex spending accounts, flex time and monthly social events.
As his nominator wrote, “Keith has more than a love for technology – he has a passion for how technology can make businesses better.”
Daystar is also a champion of its community and STEM education in middle and high schools. Daystar sponsors the FIRST robotics program at New Heights, a Seacoast youth organization, and Keith and his staff members also volunteer for the organization, helping to teach kids robotics.
The company also offers services at reduced fees for more than 40 nonprofits and community organizations, as well as thousands in sponsorships each year.
Keith has also sat on the board of Leadership Seacoast and has directed technology committees for area nonprofits. And if that’s not enough, he also coaches youth sports, including soccer, basketball and futsal.
