Some 1,351 New Hampshire households and businesses filed for bankruptcy in the first half of the year.
That’s not only 13.5 percent fewer than last year, but it was the lowest number since 2006, right after the rush of filings after the rules changed in 2005 to make filing for bankruptcy more difficult.
In June, 209 households and businesses filed for bankruptcy protection, 23 fewer than May and 45 fewer than June of 2013.
There were 16 business-related filings, six fewer than in May. Seven businesses filed as businesses. The rest were households with business-related debt. As in past practice, NHBR will list the related businesses, not the individual:

• Longhaul Farm, Pavilion in the Woods at Longhaul Farm, Cross Country Contracting, Holderness, filed June 25, Chapter 13. Assets and liabilities: $100,000 to $500,000.
• Pedicures Plus Nail Salon, Newport, filed June 27, Chapter 7. Assets: $8,730. Liabilities: $15,228.
• Currier Auto Repair, Whitefield, filed June 30, Chapter 13. Assets and Liabilities: Less than $50,000.
