Word's worth
Kindergarteners aren’t too young to understand the important role that newspapers play.
Education reporter Michael Brindley visited students in Cathy Hansberry’s morning kindergarten class at Reeds Ferry Elementary School in Merrimack on Friday to talk about his job.
Brindley talked with the students about his role at the paper covering the schools and explained how a newspaper works.
Hansberry said it is part of a program that brings people from the community into the classroom.
Her students weren’t shy about asking questions and telling stories about times when they or people they know were in the paper.
The students also talked about why they liked writing.
When asked why newspapers are important, one student said it best: “Because it’s important for people to know what’s going on.”
